Effective Date: July 24, 2026
BarCrawl ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices available to you.
Account Information — When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, password credentials for email sign-in, and account status information such as email verification. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a provider identifier and, when provided by that service, your name and email address. You may also choose to upload a profile photo.
Location Information — BarCrawl accesses your approximate or precise device location while you use the app so we can show nearby bars and help you search different areas. We never store your raw coordinates — only a coarse, resolved area (e.g. city or metro), and only with your consent. You can manage location permissions at any time in your device settings.
User Content — We store content you create in the app, including bar ratings, reviews, uploaded photos, direct messages, friend activity, and bar survey responses.
Device Information — We collect device and push notification identifiers when needed to send account, friend, message, or bar-related notifications. Invalid tokens are removed automatically.
Advertising Interactions — BarCrawl shows promoted content and ads from bars and other advertisers. Ads are targeted using your resolved area (never your precise location) and are limited to a daily number of views per person. We keep aggregate records of ad views and clicks to measure performance and enforce those limits; this is not sold or shared with advertisers.
Other users may see your display name, profile photo, ratings, reviews, and other content you choose to share in app features. Your email address is not shown publicly. Direct messages are visible only to the participants in that conversation and to BarCrawl systems as needed to operate, secure, and support the service.
BarCrawl uses the following services, each governed by its own privacy policy:
Stripe processes payments only for bars and businesses paying for a BarCrawl business tier — it does not handle any payment or billing information for individual app users. We do not sell your personal data to any third party.
We retain account information for as long as your account remains active or as needed to operate the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You can request account deletion from the app settings or by contacting support.
Passwords and sensitive tokens are hashed or otherwise protected before storage. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
You can update certain profile information inside the app, control location permissions in your device settings, and contact support if you want to request account deletion or need help with your data.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, request a copy of it, request that we correct or delete it, and object to certain uses (including targeted advertising). We do not sell your personal information.
You can exercise these rights from the app: use Delete Account in Settings to delete your account and its data, or email [email protected] to request a copy of your data or ask us to correct it. We verify the request is coming from the account holder before acting on it. We will not discriminate against you — for example, by degrading service or charging different prices — for exercising any of these rights.
BarCrawl is a mobile application and does not rely on browser cookies for core app functionality.
BarCrawl is intended only for users of legal drinking age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of BarCrawl after an updated policy is posted means you acknowledge the updated policy.
